The story represents a typical strategy of dealing with facts in Ukraine, instead of addressing the issue accuse someone else of wrongdoing, in this case foreigners. I can assure you the process of adoption is very rigorous at the American embassy, and documents are thorougly checked. However, it is a fact that children are for sale in most orphanges in Ukraine. This is done under the guise of "expediting" the paperwork. The standard price is 20,000 USD. This has nothing to do however with what's happening in the maternity wards not just in Kharkiv, but all across Ukraine. I would hope someone from outside Ukraine investigates this, and makes progress, they will not get cooperation from the authorities. The ones at the local level are likely involved. I have seen firsthand what happens to the mothers who are victims of this. It is monstrous. First, they are told their baby died, that it was their fault, and if they try to make any trouble they will file a legal document that they are insane, and it only gets worse from there. I have no agenda other than to tell people the truth. As far as evidence and documents, all evidence is under the control of the hospital administrators, people are coerced into signing documents saying that the hospital did nothing wrong. This is a MAJOR scandel, but the authorities will eventually kill this story like so many others.
