As Harry Truman said: Facts are Stubborn

Anyone can define oneself as one wants to. But facts are facts. Reality is reality.

A third generation American is a third generation American.

I would venture that third or fourth generation Americans who have been to Ukraine once or twice or do Ukrainian dancing are not Ukrainian.

This is not a judgement but a statement of fact.

I deal with both newly arrived students and third generation American kids who belong to Plast and I see the chasm between both. Ukrainian students are offended when these kids start lecturing them about what it means to be Ukrainian.

Going to Wildwood at the end of the summer does not define one as a Ukrainian. It is not a Ukrainian activity. Nor does going to Soyuzivka.

It is a simple observation.

I would point out that it was anonymous posters on this board that began this discussion and stated that students from Berdyansk or Kerch or Yalta are not Ukrainian.

I invited people from the anonymous of this bulletin board woodwork to interact with Ukrainian students and no one came.

I will write the profile of the students who were at the dinner.
