It looks like to be a difficult question to answer since Russia itself was one of the routes for the European barbarian invasions. My Grand Father was a White Kuban and Fought until the last against the Red, went out through Turkey, but if you were to cal him other thing than Kuban Cossack it would be Russian. Also my Grand Mother that came from Bessarabia (I do not know the right spell in English) hated to be called other thing than Russian.
