There has been some very recent speculation regarding W. Klitschko's health. The post-fight blood tests show extremely high levels of suger in the blood (also some indications of a viral infection). Some rumors indicate the possibility of diabetes (or worse). New tests are being performed. Has anyone heard of the latest news about his health?
If this is true, it would clearly explain what happened Saturday. It was obvious that he had run out of steam in the late 4th and early 5th round. My very first impression was that something was just not right with him. Klitschko was on the verge of winning the fight. His complete lifelessness (collapse) came just before Brewster hit him--not after! Brewster certainly saw the physical changes as well, and quickly capitalized. But the point is, that such a high suger level would explain his complete drop in energy and endurance at such a crucial time. This physical condition may not be just a short term one--which can further explain his previous bout as well. We'll see in the next few days if there's any truth to these rumors.
