: : Wonder what language President Kuchma used in his address. Ukrainian or Russian which he happens to prefer on many state occasions.
: He spoke in perfect Ukrainian. I heard him with my own ears.
: Also, you might be interested to know that Tarasyuk addressed a group of "Silk Road" country leaders in English!
: Interestingly enough, Uzbekistan's president spoke in very halting Russian. Moldova's spoke in perfect fluent Russian. The Kyrgyz foreign minister, on the other hand, spoke in English.
: It is often necessary for them to speak one of the "official" languages of the United Nations. I believe there are 6 : French, English, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, and Spanish. The UN has limited resources too, and can't always provide translation services for each and every language. It was very pleasing to see that the Kyrgyz and Ukrainian ministers chose to communicate at this gathering in English.
: Very happy to receive favorable reply to my query. Thanks Hanya. IhorW
