The great famine in 1932and 1933 is not a Ukranian phenomenon. It happened in southern Russia, Southern Volga regions and Southern Ukraine. The numbewr of victims in Russia is by far hihger than in Ukraine. The stalinist regime was eliminating farmers as a class and as a revenge against cossacs p[opulating all these areas, who were the main support of the White Russian cause during the Civil War. By orders from Stalin Russian commissars were exterminating russian farmers in Russia and Ukranian comissars were exterminating ukranian farmers in Ukraine. I lost my grandparents, my uncles and my aunts in Zaporozhye in that Great Famine, but I don't blame Moscow and Russia for that genocide. My mother, who survived it with her siister, just two out of 12 member family (she was only 10 year old at that time), that terrrible year told me that people who broke into their house in November 1932 and took all the food from the cellar and their attic, including bags of grain and wheatflour, and all th provision they used to preserv to survive long winters, pouring the pots with with the hot meal on the ground in the backyard, were speaking Ukranian language. She also told me that all the people in that area who were victims of the great famine were strongly pro-Russian. Putting the blame for the atrocities committed that year on Russia as a genocide against the Ukranian people by mostly western Ukranian speaking minority, who didn't suffer from this desasteer is a purely political game, and an insult to the memory of the victims of the Great Famine. If all those who died in the Great famine were alive Ukraine would have never split from Russia. It is a blasphemy, a great shame for those Western Ukrainians who raise this issue as a political move against Russia. These people mostly western Ukranians , are happy, deep inside, that all those pro- Russian Ukranians died, and they can use this terrible Ukranian and Russian tragedy for their political nationalistic purpose. This is so hypocrytical and inhuman, that makes me believe that these people from Western Ukraine who raise the issue of the genocide are, in fact, accomplices of that genocide. This is the face of Nashism.
