: : “It is nonsensical to apply the nationality principle and to absorb the Ukraine into the European family of nations. The Ukraine has never belonged to Europe.” –Erich Koch, Reich Commissar for Ukraine ...”
::::So this is only Erich Koch's and not Adolf Hitler's statement (see original statement). You can find a number of individuals in current Ukraine who claim the same. (See for instance discussions on the Forum). However, this statement is pretty irrelevant in a context of Hitler's "Untermensch" Nazi ideology and that was the point.
And for current nationalistic Ukrainians Rusyns are "Untermensch" because Ukraine is the only country in Europe that refuses to accept Rusyn nationality and forcing them to have Ukrainian nationality.
: These sentiments are similar to much of the pseudo-historiography espoused by Rusyn zealots.
::"Pseudo-historiography?" Do you mean the Snts. Cyril and Methodius who introduced Christianity among ancestor of Rusyns in 863 instead of 988?
Or do you have in mind those 6 000 Rusyn soldiers in Czechoslovak army who died fighting Hitler? Ukrainian historiography (the only scientific one) has been substituting these 6 000 Rusyn soldiers by 150 misled students from Krasne Pole. (Only under Dukla 1 600 Rusyn soldiers died.) Rusyns were fighting for liberal democratic Czechoslovakia and not for Bolshevik or Nationalistic Soborna Ukraina where heads of reporters are literally cut off even in the XXI century (very European!!). So you consider a person to be “a zealot” if he/she claims to be Rusyn and not Ukrainian.
::”Adjectival terms such, as Asiatic seems to be a favorite and overused device.”
:::First of all, it is used by Ukrainian nationalists, particularly from Galicia and as a rule, these morbid nationalists target the Russians.
: :“Anachronism is defined as the representation of something as existing or occurring at other than its proper time; or anything that is or seems to be out of its proper time in history.” Neocolonialism is a contemporary term or concept. … The term is usually reserved for the West (including Western Europe) particularly the United States. “
:::: The original statement was:”Karpatsjka Ukrajina, Zakarpatsjka Ukrajina = neocolonialism = Anachronism in the civilized (West and Central) Europe.”
There is no word about the USA in this statement. Furthermore, for the current West and Central Europe, the ”Karpatsjka Ukrajina, Zakarpatsjka Ukrajina” is anachronism, similarly as Stalin’s neocolonialist annexation of Subcarpathia to Soviet Ukraine or the current Ukrainian morbid nationalism. This type of development was in fashion in this part of Europe in the first half of the XX century. Ukrainian “scientific” historiography is silent about Nazi nature of Karpatsjka Ukraina led by Avhustyn Voloshin that was under control of Shukhevich, Melnik etc. Avhustyn Voloshyn was also the President (Rektor) of the Ukrajynsjkyj Vilnyj Universitet in Prague during Hitler’s Protectorat of Bohemia and Moravia. Czech Universities were shut down during this time but not the Ukrajynsjkyj Viljnyj Universitet in Prague.
