: Many people who are native born Americans who have ancestors from the area of north-east Slovakia claims to be Russian. They want nothing to do with anything Ukrainian or Slovak. The funny thing is that these desendants(of the "Rusyny") claim to speak Russian, when in fact they speak a dialect of Ukrainian.

: My conclusion, is that if these people want to be Russian, Slovak, Italian, Greek or any other ethnicity let them be what they choose to be.
: My ancestors were from the Lemko region located in south-east Poland. I am not Polish, Russian, Slovak, or Rusyn. I am proud of my Ukrainian heritage.
RE: Of course, you should be proud of your Ukrainian heritage and, I hope, that you also include in your heritage those Ukrainians who are speaking a Russian dialect. These Ukrainians are located between Dnepr and Done and do not mind sharing with Russians the same country.
