No! Common thugs are prospering because of the LACK of democracy. Ukraine has not seen any democracy yet. Democracy imlpies many things, including RULE OF LAW. This can only be achieved first on the local levels. People should not be afraid to speak their mind, to strike, to reelect corrupted officials, and to control their own elections.

Not even close. Ukraine is too educated and too European to have some Pinochet and literally risk loosing everything that it still has.

BTW, take that situation with Ukranian newspapers, or more often, the lack of thereof. Who prevents some young patriotic people from propagating the idea of NOT BUYING Russian newspapers? I am sure, common Ukrainins will support their cause. This will do much more for the Ukrainian language, then ten more laws adopted by Verkhovna Rada.
