: : Hi Mirko,
: : Hanya failed to mention those Germans of Austria, Alsace of France, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland who are not proud to be Germans. Since they were mostly left to develop their own way of life (culture, economy, etc.), these "non-proud" Germans doing so well that the proud Bavarian and other proud Germans from Germany like to go to work to Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg very much.
: : The famous Hitler’s slogan: "One Leader, One Nation, One Homeland (Vaterland)!" substantially exploited and abused the German pride. In addition, you are forgetting something very important, particularly the basic human right issue. It is solely Brian’s business whether he considers himself Rusyn or Ukrainian.
: : Joe
: : Joe, you are right. Brian is free to consider himself a Rusyn, a Ukrainian, a Bashkir, a Swahili, or a racoon. The fact is that he is asking! And once he asks, then an explanation is owed to him.
RE: RE: I was reading several comments on this board and focused my attention on Hanya's argument of "proud Germans" rather than on the Brian's specific question. I apologize for that. Wouldn’t it be great if other Ukrainians, particularly in Kiyev, have the same tolerant attitude toward Rusyns in Transcarpathia as you to Brian’s Rusyn/Ukrainian “problem”? I do appreciate it, indeed. Joe
