Since I did not see for a while any response to my earlier answers addressing your posted comments I stopped visiting this board. It's pity that I did. You did a good job. This is a solid work, my congratulation!
I'll be brief. However, I think a comparison of Kiyevan Rus to Roman Empire, as some posted comments try to do it, is far too fetched. I do not want to argue whether and when San Marino became a democracy and whether it was or is controlled by fascists and currently by socialists/communists etc. Fact is that Italy, the heir of Roman Empire accepted Vatican, San Marino as states, cantons with Italians as part of Switzerland, and Italian Tyrol as an autonomy region. Can you provide an example of an Italian region that had an autonomy, recognized by international treaties in the XX century and denied it, despite of the overwhelming votes of people of that particular region for autonomy.
