Kiyev’s response was “skasuvaty”, though 78% voted for self-rule in Subcarpathia. If this was not democratic vote and, therefore it is not valid, the vote for Samostijna Ukraina was not democratic either, because it occurred in the same time under the same conditions as the vote for self-rule. : (2) Stalin’s regime abolished Rusyn’s nationality and proclaimed that all Rusyns will be Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Bolsheviks officially declared this policy in 1924. As of today (8/3/2000) this policy is still valid in Ukraine. : This policy of terror, no self-rule, no Rusyn nationality was introduced by Stalin. Whether you like it or not, the fact is that current politicians of Ukraine have been keeping this Stalin’s policy alive in Samostijna Ukraina towards the Rusyns for almost ten years. I wan the population on other site of Carpathian Mountains (Galicia) to have also a decent life because a regional development is typical for a successful economy.
