What sort of Ukrainians are you people?
This fellow posts URLs of cassettes of "Slovak Folk Songs", half of which are outright Ukrainian (or in a Lemko dialect), and not one person either recognized that or pointed it out to poor Vasko. Perhaps it's because you don't even know enough about what you're pontificating on to distinguish it from Slovak. It's certainly the case that most Ukrainians who bully Rusyn Americans about their "unenlightened" or "ahistorical" identity are the very ones who wouldn't know the "Lemko dialect", "Lemko costumes", "Lemko songs" or Lemko history if they fell over it. How else can you explain such laughable constructs like "the Lemko Region of Ukraine"?
So now the even less-logical, more-unenlightened, more-ahistorical view shows itself to you, and so far it seems like it's OK with you whatever this Vasko and his countrymen want to call themselves.
Where are the histrionics? Where's the outrage? So it's OK when "Ukrainian" people would rather be Slovaks even when it flies in the face of all linguistic, cultural, historical, etc. evidence (where have I heard that argument before?), but it's only when they wish to preserve their East Slav particularity as what they've always been -- Rusyns -- that you climb up on the soapbox.
I'm so disappointed...
