I am very sorry to read this materials about relation between Rusins and Ucraininans
1, now it is year 1999, so 10 years after comunist regime over, and you used artcle from encyclopedia published during comunisr regime in Ucraina
2, Comunist regime f.e. did not allowed rusin nationality in Slovakia, also in Pidkarpattja, so this opinions of people are the results of good brainstorming provided during almost 50 years of comunist goverment
but now, we live in freedom countries, so who can prohibet to give a free choice,if anybody feels as Rusyn and not Ucrainian
Of course, there are the same historical roots of both
it can be seen in the greek-catholic church his customs and traditions, which is different from Russians
namely in old books, the name RUTHENI was used also for today´s Rusin and also Ucrainians
but now we live in 20-th century - till today the development of this terms was in 2 completly different meaning
3, this summer in Uz´horod was held The World Congress of Rusyns...did not you know it?
Official state newspaper wrote some articles about it also TV News, and and there were official state guest...that means the ucrainian goverment recognized Rusyns as a different nation from Ucrainians
but likewise the other question is political status of Zakarpatska Ukrajina, this is very peculiar question
Sometimes it seems to me, that Ucrainans forgot what how many un-justice they experiensed from RUSSIANS
how many people Russinans mordered
