If there is no education that is Ukrainian in America, will Soyuzivka be a Ukrainian resort in any way even if it survives?
Without education that has some thematics in Ukrainian will someone who simply does prysidky be Ukrainian in any meaningful way? You can be Japanese or Black or Latin American and still do Arabic belly dancing or like Country Western. If I knit lambwool sweaters, does that make an Icelander or a New Zealander? So if I make pysanky, am I Ukrainian?
Without some attempts at understanding Ukraine from America, through intellectual endeavor, any resort or activity (even a Zabava) will not be Ukrainian in anything more than the most kitsch way!!!
Why not simply go to Ukraine to learn or hear Ukrainian? Why not set up a program to help students from America to go to Ukraine to learn Ukrainian?
You are what you eat. You are what you invest in.
