: What is your point, Ukie? Russkij (Russian) is derived from Rus and Rus'ky, also from Rus, what is now Ukrainian, do you want to tell me that Rusyn is also Ukrainian?
Ukie: “…Let's say we have 2 different countries: Rus and Rossiya...”
RE: Ukie, you are not answering directly to my questions above. Furthermore, where would you put Ukraine in your considerations of “2 different countries”?
Ukie: “..What are differencies or similarities between Rusyns, Boykos, Hutsuls, Bukovyntsi, Lemkos I don't know. “
RE: You omitted the largest group known as Dolyn’any, also called Dolyshniany/Lowlanders, representing a majority of Rusyns. However, similarly as you, I do not know the details about Ukrainians, though it is reasonable to assume that there are less differences and more similarities among the Rusyns (Dolyn’any, Boykos, Lemkos, Hutsuls) as among Ukrainians such as Poltavtsi, Zaporizztsi, Rus’ky-Ukraintsi, Volen’any, Khersontsi etc.
Ukie:”..I assume they like to be called who they are, but not by the name of the country they live in. I think that Lemkos in Poland don't like to be called Poles, or Bukovyntsi in Rumania don't like to be called Rumanians and so on. I don't know how it is in reality, I just think so. “
RE: It is a basic human right issue if somebody considers himself/herself Rusyn, Polish, Slovak, Ukrainian or Romanian. There is no problem with Lemko-Rusyns in Poland because this country is trying hard to become a civilized European country, a member of EU. Although slower, but a similar trend towards minority issues has been developing in Romania which would like to be in NATO and EU as well. Regarding “Bukovyntsi”, I do not know in reality either how they like or do not like to be called “Rumanian”. Nevertheless, the recent visit of the highest representatives of Romania in Bukovyna did indicate very positive feelings of “Bukovyntsi” toward this country. Thus, one cannot avoid the question, how much positive feeling have these people toward Ukraine and Ukrainian nationality?
