Thank you for directing me to a nice site. I didn't know much about Rusyns but know about Hutsuls since my early age, about their rich culture and heritage, about their musiacal instruments, folk tales and cloth.
I also looked at the titles of Rusyn publications mentioned on that site. I have no difficulty to understanding the language and don't need any dictionaries. Language is very nice and beautiful. I was in Slovak and Czech Republics some time ago and I want to say that I understood maybe 20-30% of these languages. So, my opinion is that Rusyns are not Russians and not Slovaks but Rusyns.
You have to preserve all things Rusyn because these things are yours and very nice.
I also was in Carpathian region in Kosiv and bought many souvenirs and have them in my home.
I heard names of the professors you mentioned but that's about it. Why do you regard them as "crowd" ? What about prof. Magocsi, who is chair of Ukr. studies at the University of Toronto. He wrote "History of Ukraine", "The Carpatho-Rusyn Americans" and others (I didn't read a single of his books). Does he also belong to this "crowd"?
