: I’ve gathered from Pavlo’s response that Ukrainians in Kiyev do not want to read newspapers printed in Ukrainian language and therefore, one cannot by them in private newsstands. This is a normal free market phenomenon of supply and demand.
Is it free market, when price of thin independent
"Vechirniy Kyiv" is 2.5 more than of thick Bakay owned "Segodnya"? "Dear Joe, please, contact Committee to Protect Journalists (1-212-465.1004, www.cpj.org) and find their last report on the situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine. You will find a lot of interesting about "free market" in poor country, about of pressing on mass media from different state bodies: President's administrations, tax, fire, sanitary etc. inspections.
Free society, free market and free press are interconnected - each can't exist without others.
