Why is Ukraine still Russia's Little Brother

: Why are so many ukrainians speaking in Russian? Why are there so many Russian newspapers? These are the questions which i could not stop asking myself in Ukraine. If any of you have ever seen or read " Moskal Charivnyk" or " Eneyda" than you know the answer to that. Most Ukrainians learn other laguages quickly, but forget their language quickly. After centuries of forein occupation, you cannot blame us. Well why doesn't the government " so intent on making Ukraine a better place to live," make all schools Ukrainian speaking for a while. I mean, Ukrainian is the national language, right?!! Why aren't the Russian living in Ukraine forced to accept Ukrainian citizenship after a period of,lets say, five years, with learning to speak the language being one of the requirements? As you can clearly see, the currently acting government is like a PROBLEM river flowing into hundreds of tributaries. If you start paddling your boat form any tributary, you will eventually arrive at The Problem Port of The Ukrainian Government!
