American Councils is pleased to announce opportunities for U.S. institutions to
host participants of the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) for the 2010
spring semester.<br>
<br>
The JFDP is a non-degree, professional development program intended to provide
opportunities for university faculty from Eurasia and Southeastern Europe to
engage in curriculum development and explore alternative teaching
methodologies, expand their knowledge in their fields of study and gather new
teaching materials and resources.<br>
<br>
JFDP Fellows help internationalize their U.S. host institutions by exposing
college communities to Fellows' rich cultural heritage and alternative
approaches to their academic disciplines. During the program, JFDP Fellows may
make presentations, give special lectures, co-teach courses or participate in
departmental projects, if such opportunities exist. U.S. hosting institutions are
asked to provide a faculty advisor who is willing to guide a visiting fellow in
identifying appropriate academic pursuits related to their field of study,
professional networking, and research.<br>
<br>
Fellows do not earn academic degrees, credits or transcripts through the JFDP,
and must return to their home countries after completing the program.<br>
<br>
American Councils provides JFDP Fellows with round-trip international and
domestic transportation, medical insurance, monthly stipends, and a
professional development fund. In addition, ECA and American Councils sponsor
events and activities for JFDP alumni after they return to their home
countries.<br>

The application deadline is October 2, 2009. American Councils will send
notification concerning application status by mid October.<br>

The JFDP is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the
U.S. Department of State and administered by the American Councils for
International Education.<br>
