Dear Colleagues,

I would like to thank all of you who responded to my call for film reviewers. There were many prompt responses, literally within hours of my original message, and all the films have already been assigned and the DVDs have been mailed to reviewers. The journal issue is planned to be released this fall, so should I receive more films for review, I will contact those of you who responded after the current crop has already been assigned.

Dear Colleagues,

As some of you might know, I am currently guest-editing a special issue of the online journal KinoKultura on Ukrainian cinema. One of the difficulties I have come up against is locating reviewers for contemporary Ukrainian films. If you or your colleagues or graduate students might be interested in contributing a film review, please contact me at chernev at muohio.edu. Given the difficult state of contemporary Ukrainian cinema, some films are available on DVD but others aren't, and while some films have English subtitles, others are in Ukrainian and/or Russian only. I believe it is particularly important that the films be reviewed from the Ukrainian studies perspective, as it is frequently ignored in general scholarship on the cinema of the ex-USSR and Eastern Europe. I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have regarding the project.
