This will have a crippling effect not only on Russian historians but on all
foreign historians who want to do any research or visit Russia. The
situation is particularly dangerous for Ukrainian historians of the Soviet
period who frequently go to Russia. Some reaction should come from
international scholarly bodies, especially organizations of historians.
