What: The USA/USA Program is a
non-profit organization
that
helps Ukrainian high school students discover the value
of
and access to Western education. The Program finds very
talented
high
school students in Ukraine and provides them
with
the means to win scholarships abroad.
The program
charges
no fees. To date, forty-six students since
1992 have
directly
through this program attended on comprehensive
four-year
financial-aid packages leading American colleges.
The aggregate value of these
scholarships is approximately
$6.5 million. Countless other Ukrainians have earned
additional
grants using the information and networking
possibilities
provided by the Program.

Position overview:
As the Executive Director, you
will
be the primary person responsible for the
day-to-day
administration of the Program in New
York
City. The Program has a volunteer board. The Executive
Director
is the primary point of contact, organizer and
coordinator
of the program. The Executive Director
organizes
board meetings and reports to the board.
Skills and Abilities:
You will have the ability to:
a.
interact with Ukrainian USA/USA students in colleges and prep
schools in America
b.
recruit, process, organize, and read applications from Ukrainian students
c.
manage relations with the Ukrainian American community and with Ukraine
d.
manage relations with benefactors and assist in fundraising
e.
implement possible new initiatives with reference to Ukraine
f.
participate in board meetings
Qualifications:
You
must be familiar with the private and public educational systems in the United States
and have knowledge of the Ukrainian educational system.
You
must know MS Word, Access, Excel, and various blogging
programs (ideally WordPress). Ukrainian
language skills are a
definite asset.
A
working knowledge of Russian is an asset.
You
have at least a BA degree and ideally have
some
experience in educational and/or not-for-profit program management
Additionally,
you are able to independently run an office, do
administrative
work, prepare special events and recruit and organize volunteers.
Most
critically, you are a "self-starter" and you
are
able to work on own, without supervision on a flexible schedule.
You
will be required to report regularly to a board and prepare
board
meeting materials.
Travel
to Ukraine
may be periodically necessary
Remuneration and other terms: Remuneration is
commensurate
with experience. The program
is able
to
pay up to $45,000 per annum, based on experience.
You
will have up to three weeks vacation and five
personal
days if hired on a full time equivalent basis.
