The Twenty-Sixth Conference on Ukrainian Subjects at the University of Illinois 
at Urbana-Champaign will be held on June 24-27, 2009. The conference is being 
organized by the Ukrainian Research Program at the University of Illinois and 
will be held within the framework of the Summer Research Laboratory on Russia 
and East European Countries.

The conference main theme is Contemporary Ukraine: Challenges and 
Perspectives? and its major sessions will be devoted to such topics as:
Ukraine and Russia,Ukraine and the European Union,Ukraine and North America,
Contemporary Development of the Ukrainian Diaspora.
Presentation of papers will be in English and Ukrainian.

The Program Committee of the conference comprises the following persons:
Chairperson: Leonid Rudnytzky (LaSalle University),
Members: Volodymyr Chumachenko (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign),
                   Assya Humesky (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor),
                   Taras Hunczak (Rutgers University, Newark),
                   Jaroslav Rozumnyj (University of Manitoba),
                   Christina Sochocky (Toronto, Ontario).

Its Organizing Committee includes members of the Executive Committee of the 
Foundation for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies at the University of 
Illinois:

Members: John Derkach,Vera Eliashevsky, Alex Konoval, Ola Kusyk.

The conference proceedings are open for the public. Presentations of papers and 
their comments will be given by invited persons only.
