Fans of Old Ukrainian Restaurant Meet in Catskills
by Marianne McCune
http://www.wnyc.org/news/articles/79885

"NEW YORK, NY May 26, 2007 —It seems like every few months in New York,
another beloved bar or restaurant closes down because rents have gone too
high. But if you think those favorite hang outs fade away in people’s
memories, here’s a story for you. This Memorial Day weekend, loyal patrons
of an Italian and Ukrainian food restaurant that closed 23 years ago are
holding a reunion this weekend at a resort in the Catskills.

WNYC’s Marianne McCune has more about a restaurant where you might find
the owner at a corner table snapping the ends off green beens, and
customers ate a pizza they called Garbage Pie. It was called orchidia or
if you’re Ukrainian, ‘or-kid-DAY-uh.’

Orchidia's Garbage Pie is memorialized at Two Boots, an East Village
pizzeria that opened just as Orchidia was closing. Two Boots sells a pizza
called Orchidia Pie."

Who else but WNYC to cover it. Even Genza is interviewed!
