Subject: [ukrainians] Open letter

Dear friends!

President Yushchenko is coming to the U.S. for the opening session of the
U.N. General Assembly. The situation in Ukraine is precarious, as we all
know.
In addition to the growing threat from Russia, internal squabbles are
endangering our country's sovereignty. The selfish and cynical politcians
are yet again using their positions and power
to wheel and deal, instead of protecting the national interests. There is no
doubt that Russia has activated all its visible and invisible resources in
Ukraine to further destabilize the situation, cause another crisis and
create a situation similar to Georgia's.

We cannot simply sit still while our dear country is being againt torn apart
by the government parasites. We should at least write an open letter,
probably directing it to the Ukraine's Embassy at the U.N., addressing the
situation in Ukraine, especially the recent law that mandates all government
employees to know and speak Russian. (BYuT, PR, Communists and Lytvyn's Bloc
joined to vote it in) Notice how they voted it in on Friday, hoping to cover
it up and divert attention over the weekend.

We don't have much time - I will be trying to consult with a few people
today. If anybody can offer any help or advice in this matter, that would be
greatly appreciated. Help in formulating and disseminating the letter,
spreading the word, etc. From what I understand, very few media outlets even
covered the adoption of this law.

This is Tiahnybok's blog, which notifies about the law.

This is a list by name of those who voted for or against the law

This is the law itself, as it was originally proposed.

Thank you,
Bohdan Pechenyak.
