[aaus-list] Two lists and the transition

Dear AAUS and AAUS-Community Members,

After several weeks of ironing out the kinks,* I have begun to split
the lists into a pure academic-interests list and a community list.

In the next few days you may receive a message telling you that you
have been unsubscribed from AAUS-list and another telling you that
you have been subscribed to AAUS-community-list. If you are on the
new list, you will receive all of the posts from the old list, plus
any posts from members on political/cultural/social themes that are
outside strict "news of the profession" informational bulletins.

If you remain on the old list, please note that we no longer will
allow broad politico-culturological commentary on the list.

I did not receive many replies as to list-preference when I made the
call about the split last month. Therefore, I have moved/will move
members of aaus-list to the Community list according to membership in
AAUS, affiliate status, and past posting patterns. If you feel that
you have been moved unjustly, DO NOT complain to the list. Send me a
message off-list. If you are not a member of AAUS, you will have the
opportunity to join AAUS if you want to remain on the narrower AAUS
list. Otherwise, you will be moved to the Community list.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE MOVED TO THE NEW LIST: you need to adjust your
e-mail address books to post to aaus-community-list at brama.com. In
order to avoid confusion, we are using the brama.com designation for
the new list, not the old ukrainianstudies.org. The two domains are
functionally equivalent. Ukrainianstudies.org "lives" on the servers
of brama.com. Both lists continue to be owned by the AAUS under the
very much appreciated aegis of the Brama.com organization.

If you have further questions, please contact me off list.

With warmest regards,

Robert DeLossa, AAUS Communications

*Many thanks to Prof. Patricia Herlihy for her help in testing the
new dual-list system!
