On July 22, 2008, the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute is pleased to sponsor Halyna Stefanova's solo performance, "Fieldwork in Ukrainian Sex," based on the novel by Oksana Zabuzhko.

ABOUT THE ACTRESS
Halyna Stefanova is a graduate of the I.P. Karpenko Karyi Kyiv State Theatre Institute (acting) and T.H. Shevchenko State University (philology). She began her theatrical career at Kyiv's acclaimed Young Theatre, working there for 12 years. Halyna's current artistic home is Kyiv's experimental Les Kurbas Centre for the Performing Arts.
The actress often takes part in creative projects of various kinds, including Walter Mossman's Music and Texts projects with the "Recherche" Ensemble of avant-garde music (Freiberg, Germany-Lviv, Ukraine), concert programs and poetry evenings, and appearances on radio and television.
In 1997 she was awarded the "Kyiv Pectoral" for best performance of a lead female role in the Actor Theatre's production of Yu. Shcherbak's The Wall. She is also a recipient of the Vasyl Stus Prize (2001).
Halyna appeared in the female lead role of Princess Varvara Repnina in Stanislav Klymenko's Dovzhenko Studio feature film The Poet and the Princess.
