Dear Colleagues,

I have moved into a tenure-track position in ethnomusicology at the
University of Pittsburgh, teaching courses in world music, global hip-hop,
Eastern European music, post-socialist popular music etc. I will also be
leading a Carpathian music ensemble, focusing on Ukrainian, Hungarian,
Gypsy, Slovak, Polish, and Romanian music, with a touch of klezmer. If you
live in the Pittsburgh area, or know of young musicians either at the
University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie Mellon/Duquesne, the ensemble is open
to the faculty and public and we will happily welcome you in our midst,
particularly if you are a string or woodwind player! The meeting times for
students are T/Th 4-5:15, 309 Bellefield Hall, 315 South Bellefield Ave,
Pittsburgh (near the Cathedral of Learning). If you would like to be
informed of upcoming Eastern European musical events at the University of
Pittsburgh, please email me at anh59 at pitt.edu.
Best wishes,
Adriana Helbig
