[aaus-list] More on the decline of Ukraine

The appended article about Ukrainian population decline is not simply
Russian propaganda.  The US Census bureau has a population pyramid for
Ukraine at its website:  http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idb/pyramids.html 

 

If one puts in the dynamic output for Ukraine one can see the population of
Ukraine shrink in dynamic fashion.

 

The reality is that the independence of Ukraine has been as stressful to it
as the Soviet era.  

 

The reality is that despite independence the number of Ukrainian speakers is
likely to decline since the absolute numbers of Ukrainian citizens is likely
to decline also.

 

If Ukraine declines to thirty million people as projected by the US Census
bureau, then the absolute number of Ukrainian speakers is likely to fall
nearly as drastically.

 

Regardless of the Orange Revolution and despite Ukraine's "democratic
pluralism", the leadership of Ukraine is failing its demographic
obligations.
