Subject: [EurasiaHealth] New HIV/AIDS Stories on World Bank's ECA Web site
This week, the World Bank's Europe and Central Asia website
http://www.worldbank.org/eca features two new stories timed to coincide with
World AIDS day:
- Keeping the Promise in Ukraine:
International donor agencies including the World Bank met on November 30,
2005 in Kyiv to express their renewed commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS in
Ukraine. The epidemic there is the worst in Europe and is mainly affecting
people between the ages of 20 and 34. Read about the World Bank's response
to this tragic challenge.
- Signs of Hope for AIDS Patients in Moldova:
A ground-breaking program launched in 2003 is helping Moldovans live with
AIDS and slow the spread of the disease. Prevention activities include
needle exchange programs in three prisons, addressing the needs of
commercial sex workers, education geared towards youth, and providing
home-based care.
Also new: We've added an on-line library of major speeches under "News &
Events" on our website. Read the transcript of an address delivered by World
Bank President Paul Wolfowitz on the occasion of the second anniversary of
Georgia's Rose Revolution.
As always, keep an eye out for new World Bank reports available for download
on our publications page http://www.worldbank.org/eca/publications.
Best regards,
ECA Web Team at the World Bank
