I should also add that devaluing hryvna so quickly ruined the credit
markets in Ukraine. Yes, Ukraine needed to limit imports but there are
other ways to do it. The sharp economic contraction will further
aggravate the repayment ability in the economy.

Ukraine was completely unprepared for this crisis and the
macroeconomic indicators (current account, inflation) only got worse
in the last year despite such tremendous shocks as the food crisis and
quickly rising energy costs.

This is the price Ukraine is paying for the total absence of any
structural reforms since 2004.
