: : My dear friends,
: : Help me with advice. I am ukrainian who is married with american citizen. I am only several months here and still haven't any american documents. And 3 weeks ago my ukrainian international passport (with visa and Arrival Note I-94 in it) have been stolen from my room in hotel. I need this documents for my identification here in America and also for INS procedures. I am desperate...
: : Could somebody give me any advice? Are there any people out there who were at the same situation?
: : Thanks in advance.
: Hi, Liudmyla
: I just came on the K-visa but still have my passport with me :)
: What can you do? You definatly need to go to INS (as I understand from your letter you didn't) and as Lina sad apply for Ajustment of status (depending what kind of visa do you hold they will tell you what forms do you need tyo fill out). Be prepared to wait in a long line:) - at least here, in Washington.
: BUT: to do that you have to go first to the Embassy of Ukraine or Consulate (there is one in Chicago and one in New York). If you are living far away from these cities, call the Embassy and they will tell you what to do. They will issue a new passport and advise what to do about visa. The other part of I-94 is in INS, don't worry.
: Don't waist your time - the longer you are without any documents the harder will be to get one later. And hurry up: as I understand you are on your visa, wich might expire soon (you know better) and you need a time to get a new passport and apply to the INS.
: Good Luck and be careful:)
