OK, so maybe we just had a little disconnect here...
We're soon headed "home" for the first time in five years due to the experience we had at Christmas 98 where my wife's passport was cancelled (it was the old Soviet-style) and we had to get a new one before leaving two weeks later. ($$ ka-ching! $$) I said no more trips until she's on a US passport. The Customs guards at Odessa tried the 'import-duty' crap on her wedding ring and when I refused threatened at gun point to arrest me.
Needless to say, I'm a little leary about the trip and wondering what type of harassment, if any, to expect when we return.
