: Two years ago I filed I751.( because my green card was about to expire )
: They extended my green card for another year. Because my husband is in the military and we are stationed overseas they put my case "on hold".
: My question is: Can I apply for a citizenship? (I've been married for 4 years). I know that as a military spouse I have a right to apply, even while being overseas.
: Looking forward to hear from you.
: Thank you.
In general, a person may not apply for citizenship until the petition to remove the condition on the residence is granted. this means that until a person receives approval for a "permanent" green card, that person may not apply for citizenship.
Regarding your application being put "on hold," please write to me directly. I may be able to offer you some advice. I do not give individual advice on the board.
