I am a permanent resident and have been in this country for 1-1/2 years. I got married this month to an american citizen. As a permanent resident, I have to wait for 5 years to become an American Citizenship and being married to an American citien, it was lowered down to just 3 years. Since I have been here for 1-1/2 years, does it mean, i can get my citizenship after 1-1/2 years to complete the 3-year requirement? Or is it that the count would start on the day of our wedding? pls enlighten me on this.

thanks,
mariel
