When my wife arrived in Kiev, Ukraine, on August 15 but her two checked bags were not on her flight. She went to baggage claim and filed for the two missing bags. The lady in the baggage claims told her that the bags would be sent to her Simferopol address, her final destination. The agent took from her the customs declaration form and said that the customs declaration form would be returned to her inside the luggage pocket when the bags are brought to her house. When the bags were picked up the form was not in the bags.
She was told that they needed to have the form to determine if the bags might need to be searched based on her declaration.
So here are my questions:
1. Does anyone know what the consequences are of not having the customs declaration form?
2. What are the penalties of not having the document. She only claimed the money she had, video camera, 1 set of earrings and our wedding ring.
3. Is there a way of retrieving the document from the lost baggage department.
