: : Hello everybody. My husband and I just moved to New York, Manhattan. I am looking for Russian speaking friends. I am from Ukraine originally. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks. Elena.
Most Ukrainians congregate around 2nd AVenue where the first immigrants (after WWI and WWII)
located themselves... This are has community center, bars, sports clubs, churches, credit unions, schools, scouting etc. It is an active social and community. There are other areas which are mostly centred by churches - Pravoslavni & Hreko Katolyts'ki.
Today Ukrainians who are of the novoprybuli wave are indespersed in all five borough and into New Jersey and community groupings are not as important. They indisperse in areas where work is of importance... A great number of novoprybuli find themselves in the Brighton Beach Area which has a high concentration of Jevreji and also Russians, but also other xCCCP countries. That immigration which started during the late seventies is a great magnet for xCCCP citizens. Predominantly the language spoken there is *Roosian* - But I used to go their because of shopping and speak YKPAIHIAH and I was welcomed.
The city is vibrant and you have many choices in this regard!
