Galina:

After 8 years of marriage, you would be entitled under divorce laws of most states to some financial support from your husband for a period of years, so that you could establish yourself. Get a good divorce lawyer in your county for more advice about this. If you can't afford to hire lawyer, your lawyer can petition court to have husband pay for this legal work.

Also, you should petition for your permanent residency card, even though you are likely to be divorced. Tatyana Durbak, on this list, might have some advice about your chances, after 8 long years, to get a green card even without your husband's support.

I am sorry for your situation, bt it seems that you have some alternatives within our legal system to get financial support from your husband, as well as a shot at getting your green card, without him.

Keep writing to this list, and with more information and support, your feelings about all of these changes should improve.
