I sent a gift (valued $50) to Ukraine last month, and customs in Ukraine wanted the value of the gift as a "fee" to give the gift to my recipient; in other words, my $50 CD player gift became a $100 gift, not including shipping. Is this normal? I would like to send other gifts but don't want to "pay" double the price! I now have a used video camcorder I'd like to send over.
