Do not have her go back to the USA if she thinks her husband may take her to court and take the child away. Usually justice happens in America, but not always. Going to court is always a chance. It would be like rolling dice over the fate of her child.
Go to your Ukrainian embassy. See if they will help, as any bad relations of any type that are international may be influenced by embassy involvement. If your embassy says "nothing can be done" for you, they may be right.
Just remember, if your embassy can't help, you can still go to court in America. Sometimes the courts will help a poor mother, but it is a terrible risk to take if it involves a child.

: I am writing on my sister-in-laws behalf. She met her husband on the internet through one of those Ukraine/American man connection sites. She came to American, found out he lied about a lot of stuff, he got her pregant to keep her there, she does not know her rights. She is married to him, 1 yr old daughter and in Dec borrowed money from a friend for a ticket back to Ukraine. He said she can go and visit but its been months 4 and she does not want to go back. He does not seem to care and has no contact her or the baby but she is worried that if she asked for her belonging he will try to take the baby. She would like to know what her rights are? she is NOT a US citizen but her baby is! Can her take the baby? can she file for divorce? what are her rights? child support? she does not want to go back to him, he was horrible and she knows now she made a mistake.
