In Reply to: How long can my Mom stay on B-2? posted by Nati on November 09, 2002 at 20:04:21:
: Hello everyone,
: My Mom will be coming to the US to help me with my newborn for 2-3 months. I read somewhere that airport immigration officers nowdays allow B-2 visitors to stay in the US only up to 30 days (inspite of visa validity for 6 months). My Mom visited me a year ago for 4 weeks without any limitations to her visa (at that time), she could've stayed for 6 months if she wanted to. This must be a fairly recent change. Does anybody have any recent experiences with duration of B-2 visas? Do airport authorities really limit person's stay to 30 days only? How can I help my mother convince immigration officers to let her into the US for a longer period (up to 3 months). What if a return ticket is bought for a later than 30 day period? I would greatly appreciate anybody's help, experiences or advice. Thank you, Nat
I don't think that airport authorities can do anything with your mother's visa. My mother was visiting me last summer (almost for 2 month)and everything was alright(+ she didn't speak any english!).In fact, her B-2 visa validity was up to 6 month.
