husband: to be or not to be?

Hi,
my friend want to apply for the DV-2001 lottery. She is legally married and has a daughter. In practice she is separated from her husband (not divorced) and she doesn't want to include her husband data in the application. She wants to include her data and her daughter's data only.
Will she have a problem with the application if she doesn't include her husband data? And, if she is selected in the lottery... will she have a problem then?
