Other proofs could be having same car insurance, that is you and your husband being covered by the same policy. Anything showing your two names together would do.
Advance aprole is OK, as long as the person who is applying has not been present illegally in the more than 6 months before applying for the adjustment of status. If someone has been absent for that period of time, the person is barred for 3 years from re-entry. After one year of illegal presence, the bar jumps to 10 years. Even if the person is able to re-enter w/o having anyone ask any questions, the issue may come up at the time of the adjustment of status interview.
It's important to be careful.
