Andriyu!
You can change the last name, but then you may have trouble at the time that you apply for citizenship. You may get the name changed at a court, b/c many court personnel are not familiar with immigration laws. Permanent residents are supposed to keep the name that is on the "green card" until they become citizens. At the time of the naturalization interview, one may ask to have one's name changed. A name may also be changed at anytime thereafter.
Whether or not you have any trouble because of the name change at the time of a naturalization interview depends on the adjudicator.

: Me and my wife just got green card stamps in passports (processed for permanent residence...) We were told by INS officers at the check point that actual plastic cards will arrive within 6-8 mos.
: My question is:
: How to change last name of my wife to mine? We are married for 3 years but at the registar we decided to keep her maiden name since visas and SS# had been issued prior to our wedding. Apparently, we need it driver's license, SS# and a Green Card.

: Thank you!
