: Hello.
: I have just married and my wife has been a resident of the USA for 1 year. We now live in New York, while we study. I am on F-1 visa and I wonder whether I will have to leave the country when my F-1 expires? I would like to stay with my wife and apply fo a Green Card. How should we do that. Thanks ahead for the any advice or comment.

There are many ways that people can stay in the country. There are also many mistakes that you can make that can create serious difficulties. Sometimes those mistakes result in situations that are very difficult to correct. You need to pay for a consultation with an immigration attorney to find out the best way to do it in your case.
Names of immigration attorneys can be obtained from these two web pages, anmong others: www.aila.org and www.ilw.com. You can ask your friends to recommend someone to you. You can also go to the EOIR list of low cost immigration providers and find one in your location at www.usdoj.gov/eoir/probono/states.htm. Although these are listed as "free legal providers," all of them do not necessarily provide free services to everyone. Many charge some sort of fees for their services.
Good luck.
