: ...A great deal of illegal goods and migrants "come" into Ukraine from Moldova, the Dnestr region and Russia, "along smuggling routes"... The president believes that the strengthening of the eastern borders should not be turned into "big politics" and that this does not mean that Ukraine wants to turn away from Russia. "Customs and borders are mostly needed to have the possibility to keep track of the flow of commodities, and money, because every country needs to have a balance for which purpose borders are drawn,".Source: UNIAN news agency, Kiev, in Ukrainian 1212 gmt 11 Oct 01

: : : : Russian extremists that reside mostly in the eastern cities where they displaced the Ukrainian population by mass murder and discrimination still attempt to undermine Ukrainian freedom and language. Most Russians in Russia believe that Ukraine should return to Russian colonialism. This is why the Ukrainian language is so important. Ukrainian language=Free Ukraine as a seperate country from Russia.

: : : they are all wrong, Sir, but it still doesnt change the matter of progress...Think about one Europe, currency change...blah, blah,... insted lets start talking about languge discrimination and may be leter we will move to more practical mesures etc...
: : Or may be one day we will become a respectable and equal part of EUROPE and will be sharing friendly conversation with our German brothers in loony night with jag of their beer and build a large fence across our bother with slavic russians.

: No adherence to the exclusive official status of the Ukrainian language by Russian extremists is the only discrimination. Ukraine is a Ukrainian State not Russian. Ukraine will in the long run be unified and remain free with a one language policy. There is no place for the Russian language in future Ukraine. If the Russians were truely "brothers" they would not deny it. The world community (except Russia) has judged Ukraine's language policy as appropriate.

Ukraine is already free state and always will be. From here we should stop being pigheaded and move forward and not circle around same story about languages.
It's not the way to attract people in first place, to learn and love it,but by this we just scare them off. especially those Ukrainians who were raised oversees and reckon
that they are qualified to address that complicated issue and advice international
community. It's simply ebarrassing to read somebody's recommendations, for instance, to Spanish/American woman "who is looking..." with such an attitude.
For those who was born and at least lived in Ukraine and know what we are talking about is easy to understand all difficulty of that policy to enforce.

Lets do something remarkable first and try to start drawing Ukraine back on that map.So lingo will come naturally. It will come sooner or later any way with new generations, especially if we could achieve something at least on our own. May be that boxer will get the belt or finally we will start mass production of that huge plane or something like that...
Good marketing people with loving attitude could be a big help too...???????

But taking it to extreem every time only yields unnecessary antagonizm. Obvious fact , considerable part of ukranian population is russian-speaking and it would be impossible to change it at once and I clearly understand they stand that is also influenced by strong inheritance of art, literature, music, etc..., other achievements
of"russians", where of course substantial input of ukranians, but known as "russian".
Commn lets get real, finally, and address "the thing"professionally.

Personally, I'd like to know why Skovoroda, Mikola Gogol' spoke tu klyatu movu and
where was our unnoticable middle class all that time. Anybody...? -Ta.
