Believe me, I really sympathize with your situation (I am in the same boat). You might find this link interesting.

Your mom will need to fill out the visa application form, in which she will have to note your immigration status. If you already have a green card, she will have to note this. If you have an F-1 visa, or other nonimmigrant status, this might be much better. But make sure that she does not lie and disclose the fact that you are in the US. INS has access to all these things, and they might later give her trouble if she lies.

To answer you question: it will be best if you can find an organization to invite your mom. Then she can get a B-1 not a B-2 visa. By the way, several of my friends on F-1 visa invited their parents and obtained visas with no problems...
