Dear Biker,

Believe it or not, but my parents were russian too. And it just happened that I grew up in Ukraine, particularly in Kiev. Isn’t that funny?!

Sometimes I call myself ‘moskal’, but my friends from Moscow just laugh at me because all my life I lived in Kiev. I probably would call myself ‘zhyd’ as well, but as far as I know I didn’t have any jews in my family. Too bad, because I like jews, as well as any other nations I had a chance to interact. Sometimes I call myself ‘ukrainian’, but that’s not 100% correct because I am not fluent in ukrainian as much as I probably should be. So, what am I? Identity Lost!

And as of calling you all those ‘names’ you mentioned in your post, I’d rather call you Biker as you have chosen yourself. Please don’t take offence on that.

Dmitri

: OK, I will.
: And - no, I was not intending to be involved. As I already mentioned I have another things to do during my working hours. But unlike Katerina, who was probably smart (or lucky?), I am not going to leave it forever.
: I’m going to tell you guys, a terrible secret. Also I am fluent in Ukrainian and lived in Kiev all my life (my father – physicist has been invited by the Ukrainian Academy of Science), I was born to Russian parents!!!. So, you folks may call me “moskal”, or “zhyd”, if you prefer. I am a Ukrainian orthodox and have no traces of Jewish blood, but if it makes you feel better, I won’t mind.
