I am afraid I didn’t deliver my thoughts clear enough. It’s not that Americans are mean. They are not. Or let me put it this way, in no way they are meaner then Ukrainians (or any other USSR people). Neither they are friendlier. They are just different. And of course you find kind people in any nation as well as people who only love themselves.
I agree with Natalya.

: It has been quite entertaining, too bad it's over. The funny thing that both Kateryna and Teresa are right in some degree, jut maybe a little radical in their opinions, because it really takes black and white to make the world. And though I am from Galychyna also, I still share more common ground with Teresa: smiles attract smiles, and however poor Ukrainians may be, the hospitality would always be their #1 priority. It's almost the question of pride. And they do have a very generous heart for their friends and family.
: But I don't really agree with your opinion of Americans. I think they are wonderful and generous people too, at least I've met plenty of such. Comparing Ukrainians and Americans in the linear dimension would not be exactly right, because the limits of a particular culture have to be taken into account. And while here, in America a person would be considered kind and generous, in Ukraine he may seem as individualist and materialist. And vice versa. it's just the question of looking beneath - into the heart of people.
